Brushes, Combs, and Picks
Brushes, combs, and hair picks are some of the most common types of My Little Pony accessories. Nearly every pony was sold with at least one brush, comb, or pick, as were most pony friends and playsets. In fact, of the nearly five hundred US My Little Ponies, only eleven were sold without these hair accessories: Baby Sleepy Pie, Baby Crumpet, and the ponies in the Sweet Kisses and Teeny Tiny Twins sets.

Flower Brush

The flower brush was one of the most commonly used brushes, and was printed in many colors. It came with ponies from Year 2 all the way through Year 10, including both adults and baby ponies. In the Year 2 Earth, Merry-Go-Round, Loving Family, Precious Pocket, Baby Rainbow, Baby Ballerina, and Flower Fantasy Pony sets, every pony came with a flower brush.

Although the star brush was used from Year 2 through Year 8, it came with relatively few ponies. It was, however, sold with all of the ponies in the Year 2 Pegasus, Year 2 Unicorn, and Rainbow Curl Pony sets.

Star Brush (Rainbow)
The rainbow star brush is exactly the same as the regular star brush (see above), but has a star-shaped, rainbow-colored sticker in the center. It came with all of the ponies in the Year 2 Rainbow and Year 3 Rainbow Pony sets, along with a basic comb.

The butterfly brush came with various ponies from Year 3 through Year 9, and was sold with all of the Year 3 Earth Ponies and the Glow n' Show Ponies. Although usually sold with adult ponies, it was also included with the Baby Bonnet School of Dance, which came with Beddy-Bye-Eye Baby Half Note.

Nearly all baby ponies came with either a bear brush or a duck comb, so the bear brush was used a great deal. It came with all of the original Baby Ponies, Year 5 Newborn Twins, Year 6 Newborn Twins, and Baby Pony and Pretty Pal pairs, along with a number of other babies. It was also sold with one adult pony: Cuddles.

The bird brush was used from Year 4 through Year 8, and was not sold with very many ponies. Nearly half of the ponies who came with bird brushes were So Soft, and all were adults except for three Fancy Pants Baby Ponies.

Basic Comb
The basic comb, or original comb, was the first hair accessory sold with My Little Ponies. All of the Flatfoot and Collector Ponies came with these combs, as did the Year 2 Rainbow and Year 3 Rainbow Ponies, all three versions of Sundance, the Pretty Ponies of Year 9, and various playset ponies.

Although a few baby ponies came with other hair accessories, most of them came with either a duck comb or a bear brush. All of the Beddy-Bye-Eye, First-Tooth, Newborn, Baby Pony and Pretty Pal, and Drink n' Wet Ponies came with duck combs, as did several babies from other sets. There was also one adult pony who came with a duck comb: Squeezer.

The fish comb appeared in Year 4 to replace the shell brushes and whale brushes that had previously been sold with Sea Ponies. All of the Pretty n' Pearly, Sea Sparkle, and Watercolor Baby Sea Ponies came with fish combs, as did the Fancy Mermaid Ponies. Two of the Tropical Ponies also came with fish combs.

The flower pick was sold in two versions, one with the centers of the flowers painted in (see below), and one in a solid color, like all the other brushes, combs, and picks. This latter version of the flower pick came with all of the Summer Wing and Windy Wing Ponies, the Perfume Puff Ponies, and the Loving Family Ponies. It also came with the Pony Bride and, oddly, Woosie.

It was made with glittery plastic for every set except the Sweetsteps Ballerina set.
