Sea Ponies

Sea Ponies were modeled after seahorses: their heads are similar to those of other ponies, but instead of a horse's body, they have fins and curling plastic tails. They were printed in Year 2, between 1983 and 1984; a second set was released the next year. Each sea pony stands a little taller than an earth pony and has pectoral fins on either side of her body, and a dorsal fin on her back. All three are in the same pose, the Sea Pony Pose. A metal ball inside the tails of the Sea Ponies allows them to float properly in water, rather than tipping to one side. They can't stand on their own, so each of them came with a clam-shell-shaped stand that has a suction cup on the back and can be attached to the side of a bath tub. Each Sea Pony came with a pamphlet, a shell stand, a shell brush, a shell comb, a ribbon, and a scented sticker.
