The Sunshine Ponies arrived in Year 7, between 1988 and 1989. They were the second set of My Little Ponies with color-changing hair, but they were very different from the first set (the Watercolor Baby Sea Ponies, who had cottony hair and color-changing bodies). Each Sunshine Pony has a strip of white or pink hair in both her mane and her tail, which changes color to magenta in sunlight (not in warm water like the Watercolor Baby Sea Ponies). Like earlier sets of Twice as Fancy ponies, the Sunshine ponies have symbols printed all over their bodies, but unlike the earlier sets, they have no symbols on their faces. Each pony came with a butterfly brush or sun pick.
Waverunner is a pink adult pegasus pony with blue eyes. Her hair is dark green with a strip of color-changing white which turns magenta in sunlight. Her symbol is four seahorses, two green and two yellow, surrounded by floating white bubbles. Waverunner is in the Surprise Pose. She came with a blue sun pick.
Sand Digger is a yellow adult earth pony with bright pink eyes. Her hair is aqua with a strip of color-changing white which turns magenta in sunlight. Her symbol is three shovels and three pails printed in blue, pink, and green. Sand Digger is in the Bow-Tie Pose. She came with a bright pink butterfly brush.
Beach Ball is a dark purple adult unicorn pony with lavender eyes. Her hair is blue with a strip of color-changing white which turns magenta in sunlight. Her symbol is three beach balls with white, blue, and yellow designs, and three yellow floating stars. Beach Ball is in the Buttons Pose. She came with a purple sun pick.
Mainsail is a blue adult earth pony with pink eyes. Her hair is yellow with a strip of color-changing white which turns magenta in sunlight. Her symbol is four sailboats printed in pink, yellow, and white, surrounded by squiggly white waves. Mainsail is in the Posey Pose. She came with a lime green butterfly brush.
Seaflower is a dark mint green adult earth pony with peach eyes. Her hair is dark blue with a strip of color-changing white which turns magenta in sunlight. Her symbol is three shells and three starfish, printed in white, blue, and pink. Seaflower is in the Crumpet Pose. She came with a yellow sun pick.
Shoreline is a purple adult earth pony with mint green eyes. Her hair is white with a strip of color-changing pink which turns magenta in sunlight. Her symbol is five smiling yellow and orange suns wearing blue sunglasses. Shoreline is in the Tootsie Pose. She came with a mint green butterfly brush.
