Sunshine Ponies were the second set of My Little Ponies with color-changing hair, but they were very different from the first set (the Watercolor Baby Sea Ponies, who had cottony hair and color-changing bodies). Each Sunshine Pony has a strip of white or pink hair in both her mane and her tail, which changes color to magenta in sunlight (not in warm water like the Watercolor Baby Sea Ponies' hair). Sunshine Ponies were the first ponies to have symbols printed all over their bodies like Twice as Fancy ponies, but not on their faces. They were printed in Year 7, between 1988 and 1989. Each pony came with a butterfly brush or sun pick.
Waverunner

Waverunner is a pink adult pegasus pony with blue eyes. Her hair is dark green with a strip of color-changing white which turns magenta in sunlight. Her symbol is a Twice as Fancy arrangement of four seahorses, two green and two yellow, surrounded by floating white bubbles (view). Waverunner is in the Surprise Pose.

Sand Digger is a yellow adult earth pony with bright pink eyes. Her hair is aqua with a strip of color-changing white which turns magenta in sunlight. Her symbol is a Twice as Fancy arrangement of three shovels (one mint green, one blue, and one pink) and three buckets (pink, blue, and mint green, all with different colored handles and designs) (view). There are sprinkles of colored sand around the buckets. Sand Digger is in the Bow-Tie Pose.

Beach Ball

Beach Ball is a dark purple adult unicorn pony with lavender eyes. Her hair is blue with a strip of color-changing white which turns magenta in sunlight. Her symbol is a Twice as Fancy arrangement of three white beach balls with blue and yellow stripes and designs, and three yellow floating stars (view). Beach Ball is in the Buttons Pose.

Mainsail is a blue adult earth pony with pink eyes. Her hair is yellow with a strip of color-changing white which turns magenta in sunlight. Her symbol is a Twice as Fancy arrangment of four sailboats: two have yellow hulls and white and pink sails, and two have pink hulls and white and yellow sails (view). There are squiggly white waves around the boats. Mainsail is in the Posey Pose.
