Flutter Ponies

Flutter Ponies, introduced in Year 4, between 1986 and 1987, were a novel take on the Pegasus myth. Flutter Ponies have slender bodies and stand only about an inch taller than the average baby pony. On their backs, they have two slots in which transparent, iridescent, and very fragile wings are inserted. When pressed, a button between the wing-slots causes the wings to flap. Two poses were made for this set, and one of them, the Honeysuckle Pose, was never used again. A second set of Flutter Ponies was released in Year 5.
Flutter Ponies were the first My Little Ponies to have facial symbols: each pony has a small symbol, similar to the symbol on her flanks, printed on her cheek or nose. All of the Year 4 Flutter Ponies have flowers for their symbols. Each pony came with came with a painted flower pick, a metallic ribbon, and a scented sticker.
