The Loving Family Ponies were the only US ponies to come in family sets. Each US family consisted of a mommy pony, a daddy pony, and one baby pony (in the UK, three different baby ponies were available, one for each set). The adult Loving Family ponies all have single-colored hair, while the baby ponies have hair of two colors -- one color inherited from each parent. The baby ponies' symbols combine the elements of their mommies' and daddies' symbols. All of the Loving Family Ponies have symbols printed all over their bodies like Twice as Fancy Ponies, and within each family, all of the ponies share the same body and eye color.
The Loving Family set was the last US set to include the Big Brother Pony poses (one of which, the Steamer Pose, is curiously larger in this set than in either Big Brother set). It was also the only set ever to offer the original baby boy pose in stores rather than through mail-order. Each family set came with a brush, a pick, and three ribbons.
