The first set of Baby Ponies was introduced in Year 3 and printed between 1984 and 1985. Although Baby Ember had been released the previous year, all of the Year 3 babies were in new poses. The Baby Ponies came in earth, unicorn, and pegasus poses, and each of them matched up with a previously printed adult pony from one of the earlier sets. Many of the babies, however, had slightly different colors or symbols than their mothers. Like the adults, the baby pegasus and unicorn ponies have glittery symbols, while the earth babies don't. The baby unicorns, like the adult unicorns, have two colors in their manes.
All of the Year 3 Baby Ponies were later re-released with some alterations as Pearlized Baby Ponies through a mail order offer. The unicorn and pegasus babies were also sold in Germany with non-glittery symbols. All of Baby Ponies were available both in a box with a numerous accessories, and on a card with only a brush, a ribbon, a bottle with colored trim, and a scented sticker.
Baby Moondancer

Baby Moondancer is a white baby unicorn pony with purple (sometimes pink or pinkish-purple) eyes. Her hair is pink with a strip of lavender. Her symbol is a glittery magenta moon and two stars (view). She is in the Baby Glory Pose. Baby Moondancer was later released as Moondreamer, a Pearlized Baby Pony, with solid-colored dark pink hair. In Germany she was released with a non-glittery symbol. Her mother is Unicorn Pony Moondancer.

Baby Cotton Candy is a pink baby earth pony with light pink hair and purple eyes. Her symbol is a pattern of white dots (view). She has three white freckles on her nose. She is in the Baby Blossom Pose. Baby Cotton Candy was later released as a Pearlized Baby Pony. Her mother is Earth Pony Cotton Candy, who was released as a Flatfoot Pony, a Collector Pony, and an Earth Pony.

Baby Glory is a white baby unicorn pony with blue eyes. Her hair is lavender with a strip of blue. Her symbol a glittery purple shooting star (view). She is in the Baby Glory Pose. Baby Glory was later released as a Pearlized Baby Pony with an ash-blue body and lavender hair, and in Germany she was released with a non-glittery symbol. Her mother is Unicorn Pony Glory, who was released in the Year 2 Unicorn set and in the Year 3 Unicorn set.

Her mother is Pegasus Pony Firefly, who was released in three different verions: Year 2 Firefly, Year 3 Firefly, and Year 9 Firefly.

Baby Surprise is a white baby pegasus pony with neon yellow hair and purple eyes. Her symbol is a glittery purple balloon. She is in the Baby Surprise Pose, and is the daughter of Surprise, a Year 3 Pegasus Pony. Baby Surprise was later released as a Pearlized Baby Pony with a yellow body, and in Germany she was released with a non-glittery symbol. Her mother is Pegasus Pony Surprise, who was also released in as So Soft Surprise.
