Sparkle Ponies

Sparkle Ponies are so called because they have translucent bodies full of glitter, and their hair also sparkles; they were the first non-Princess ponies to have metallic tinsel in their hair. The Sparkle Ponies were originally available only through mail-order offers, but were redesigned and sold in stores in Year 7, between 1988 and 1989. The mail-order versions of the ponies had been slightly different: unlike the in-store versions, they all had small symbols on their cheeks, similar to Twice as Fancy or Flutter ponies, and some of them had different hair or body colors. Ony one set of adult Sparkle Ponies was ever printed, but a set of Baby Sparkle Ponies followed in Year 8. Each Sparkle Pony came with a comb, brush, or pick, and, in some packages, a "free" tube of Pony Lipstick.
